A charming Alexis Barthelay Cintrée from the 1980s, featuring an elegant elongated case with beautifully curved proportions inspired by one of the most distinctive shapes in vintage watchmaking. Its refined Art Deco character and unusual proportions make it a particularly interesting alternative to the more commonly encountered Cartier Tank models.
The stainless steel case measures approximately 14 × 28 mm, extending to 42 mm including the lugs. Its elongated silhouette and curved construction allow the watch to sit elegantly around the wrist, creating a distinctive profile that is both understated and unmistakably reminiscent of the golden age of Art Deco design.
Alexis Barthelay has an interesting place in Cartier's history. Founded in Paris in the 1930s, the Barthelay house became known for its refined jewellery and watchmaking. During the 1970s, Barthelay also produced watches for Cartier, including special commissions bearing the Cartier signature and fitted with Swiss movements from manufacturers such as Bueche-Girod. These unusual collaborations remain an interesting chapter in Cartier's production history and demonstrate the network of specialist watchmakers behind some of the Maison's vintage creations.
This example carries the Alexis Barthelay signature and offers a more understated interpretation of the elongated rectangular design. Its stainless steel construction gives it a versatile character, while the distinctive curved case remains its defining feature.
The watch has been carefully inspected and serviced by our watchmaker and comes with a 1-year mechanical warranty. It is fitted with a leather strap, completing its elegant vintage appearance.

The Alexis Barthelay Cintrée is a lovely example of the more unconventional side of vintage Swiss and French watchmaking.
