Salvador Dalí Softwatch Petit Model – Exaequo Melting Watch

This iconic Salvador Dalí Softwatch Petit Model is a sculptural and playful example of surrealist design translated into horology. Produced by Exaequo in the early 1990’s, the Softwatch transforms Dalí’s famous melting clock imagery into a wearable art object that blurs the line between timepiece and sculpture.

The fluid, asymmetrical 40 mm long case appears to softly drape over the wrist, echoing Dalí’s exploration of time, perception, and reality. The organically shaped gold-tone case frames a white dial with elongated Roman numerals that curve and distort along the contours of the watch, reinforcing the surreal aesthetic.

Despite its unconventional form, the Softwatch remains fully functional and surprisingly comfortable on the wrist. The red leather strap complements the warm tone of the case and enhances the artistic presence of the piece, making it immediately recognizable and visually striking.
