Salvador Dalí Softwatch Grand Model – Exaequo with Original Buckle

This striking Salvador Dalí Softwatch Grand Model is a bold and sculptural expression of surrealist design brought to life as a wearable timepiece. Produced by Exaequo in the early 1990’s, this larger “man-sized” version amplifies Dalí’s iconic melting clock concept into a dramatic wrist presence.

The fluid, organically shaped 45 mm long case appears to softly drape over the wrist, echoing Dalí’s exploration of time, memory, and perception. The distorted Roman numerals follow the curves of the case, reinforcing the dreamlike and unconventional aesthetic that defines this model.

The warm gold-tone case is paired with a vibrant red leather strap, enhancing the visual impact of the watch while maintaining a refined and cohesive look. A particularly desirable detail is the presence of the original Exaequo buckle, which is rarely retained and adds both collectibility and completeness to the piece.

Despite its artistic and unconventional form, the Softwatch remains functional and comfortable to wear, making it equally suited as a design object and as a statement wristwatch. This model has become highly collectible among both watch enthusiasts and admirers of 20th-century art and design.

The watch is preserved in very nice vintage condition and has been carefully inspected and curated by Gallery Suez, Antwerp.
